Lagos Police Arrest Influencer Peller Following Reckless Driving and Live-Streamed Crash

The Lagos State Police Command has taken social media personality Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, into custody following a widely circulated video that captured him driving recklessly during a live broadcast.
The incident, which took place on Sunday, December 14, 2025, resulted in a significant road accident after the influencer was seen operating his vehicle at high speeds while distracted by his livestream. Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the arrest, stating that Peller’s actions were dangerously irresponsible and posed a severe threat to the lives of other motorists and pedestrians.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough inquiry, with officials indicating that Peller will face formal charges in court once the investigation is finalized.
In light of the incident, Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh issued a stern warning to content creators and influencers, emphasizing that the pursuit of online engagement does not excuse illegal or life-threatening behavior.
He reiterated the department’s commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring that those who jeopardize road safety for social media clout are held accountable under the law.
