Gyakie Emphasizes Hard Work and Need for More Support for Female Artists Despite Success

Ghanaian singer Gyakie, reflecting on her significant success, including the penetration of the Nigerian music scene and her 2021 hit single ‘Forever’ topping local and international charts, emphasized that her achievements are a result of intense effort behind the scenes.

In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Paula Amma Broni after her performance at Black Sherif’s Mozama Disco concert, Gyakie stated that her widespread recognition goes beyond mere visibility:

“It’s more than just hearing my name everywhere. There was a lot of behind-the-scenes effort to push the name and songs. Once we did that, it reached a point where people began to hear and love my music,” she explained.

Addressing the state of the industry, Gyakie acknowledged that while the music industry is open to everyone based on hard work and self-promotion, she believes more needs to be done to support women. She called for increased recognition and opportunities for other female talents:

“However, I feel there’s still much work to be done for females. We need more women to be heard and recognized in the industry,” she added.
