UK Bans 1,632 Ghanaians Over Visa Deception

The British High Commission in Accra has announced that 1,632 Ghanaians have been handed a 10-year visa ban for using fraudulent means during their 2024 application process.

While this figure represents only 4% of the total pool of Ghanaian applicants last year, officials noted that the number is alarmingly high and reflects a growing trend of individuals being misled by unscrupulous “agents” promising guaranteed shortcuts or falsified documents.

In response to this surge in deception, the High Commissions of Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom joined forces to launch a one-week public awareness campaign titled “Fighting Visa Fraud Together.”

The initiative, which coincided with International Fraud Awareness Week, aims to educate the public on the severe long-term consequences of fraud and promote the use of official government channels.
