Tragically Fatal Crash on Techiman-Kumasi Road Kills Four

Just one day after the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) announced that 336 people died in road accidents in the first two months of 2018, a new fatal collision occurred early Thursday morning on the Techiman-Kumasi road, resulting in four deaths and eighteen injuries.

The accident involved an articulated truck, which was transporting cattle from Burkina Faso to Kumasi, and a Neoplan bus traveling from Accra to Techiman. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver swerved to avoid hitting a parked vehicle, causing the truck to crash into the oncoming bus.

The two drivers and two passengers on the bus died instantly from the impact, and the identities of the deceased remain unknown. The eighteen injured passengers were transported to Nkenkansu Government Hospital and Afrancho AME Zion Hospital for medical care.

DSP Mahmoud Yussif, the Akumadan District Police Commander, confirmed the incident and voiced his alarm over the high level of indiscipline on the roads, urging stakeholders to adopt stricter measures to curb the issue. He also appealed to the public for help in identifying the crash victims.
