Tragedy in Algiers: Three Fans Dead After Stadium Barrier Collapse

A devastating tragedy struck the 5 July Stadium in Algiers when a security barrier in the upper stand collapsed just moments after the final whistle of the match between MC Alger and NC Magra, leading to three deaths and dozens of injuries.
The collapse, reportedly caused by fans surging forward to celebrate MC Alger retaining their league title with a 0-0 draw, sent supporters falling onto the lower tier.
The health ministry confirmed the three fatalities and reported that over 70 people were treated at three local hospitals, though most of the injured have since been released.0
In a gesture of solidarity, players and staff from MC Alger visited the hospitals to donate blood for the victims. Following the incident, the scheduled presentation of the league trophy was postponed.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune offered his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
