Thomas Partey Set to Join Villarreal After Arsenal Exit

Former Arsenal midfielder and Ghana international Thomas Partey is reportedly set to join Spanish club Villarreal on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old, whose contract with Arsenal concluded in June 2025, has undergone a medical and is expected to sign a two-year deal running until 2027.
The ability to continue playing Champions League football was deemed a significant draw for the move.
Partey joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid for €50 million in 2020, making 167 appearances and scoring nine goals, often playing in midfield but occasionally at right-back; he made 52 appearances in his final season (2024-25).
Although reports suggested he was in talks to remain at the Emirates, an agreement on terms was not finalized.
Partey is currently facing legal charges, having been charged on July 4 with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, which he denies; he is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 5.
