Thomas Partey Granted Conditional Bail After Formal Charges

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 5.

The Ghana international was formally charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in connection with alleged incidents that took place between 2021 and 2022 during his tenure at Arsenal.

The charges followed an investigation launched by the Metropolitan Police in February 2022, just days before Partey officially left the Premier League club upon his contract’s expiration.

Partey, through his lawyer Jenny Wiltshire, maintains that he “denies all the charges against him” and welcomes the chance to clear his name.

The case has been referred to the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey), where his next appearance is scheduled for September 2.

Meanwhile, reports from Spain suggest the 32-year-old midfielder is close to finalizing a move to La Liga side Villarreal.
