Techiman SHS at 60: Headmaster Highlights Critical Infrastructure Deficits Ahead of Anniversary

The Headmaster of Techiman Senior High School (SHS), Gabriel Ofosu-Mensah, acknowledged the school’s 60th anniversary as a significant milestone but stressed that the institution is grappling with major infrastructural challenges. His key concerns include the poor state of the internal road network, a lack of essential infrastructure such as classrooms and dormitories for both sexes, and an insufficient supply of furniture for students.

Eunice Owusuaa Ababio, the Assistant Head of Administration, further highlighted the severe overcrowding, proposing the construction of at least two-story dormitory blocks to ease the strain on inadequate facilities, particularly the toilet blocks.

The school has planned several events to mark the anniversary, which culminates in a grand durbar and thanksgiving ceremony on November 11 and 12, 2023. The celebration’s theme is “TESS @ 60; Delivering Quality Education for Life in Our Challenging Society: The Role of Stakeholders.” Notable attendees scheduled for the final event include President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo (Guest Speaker), the Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Council, OseadeƐyɔ Nana Akumfi Ameyaw IV.
