Suspected Thief Dies by Electrocution While Breaking into Shop

A suspected thief was tragically electrocuted to death while attempting to break into a provision shop in Techiman, Brong Ahafo Region, early Tuesday morning (March 27, 2018) around 5:30 AM.

The shop owner discovered the deceased trapped in the ceiling upon arriving to open for business. According to Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, the thief had gained access by partially removing the kiosk’s roof and was attempting to cut through the ceiling when he was electrocuted.

Police officers rushed the man, who was found on top of the kiosk, to the Techiman Holy Family Hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

The identity of the deceased remains unknown, and his body has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
