Rainstorm Destroys 78 Houses in Aworowa, Displacing Over a Thousand Residents

A severe rainstorm that struck Aworowa in the Techiman North District of the Bono East Region has left hundreds of residents displaced. The storm destroyed 78 houses and caused significant damage to other properties, resulting in the displacement of over a thousand people.

Charles Amponsah, the Assembly Member for Aworowa, is appealing to the government and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) for urgent humanitarian aid to support his constituents.

Samuel Agyei Effah, the NADMO Coordinator for Techiman North District, confirmed that the community has received initial support from the District Chief Executive (DCE) and Member of Parliament (MP), despite some delays attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic. The aid distributed so far includes 45 packets of roofing sheets, 90 bags of cement, and four boxes of nails, with additional supplies expected soon.
