Queen Haizel Accuses Radio Host Nana Romeo of Sexual Harassment and Sabotage

Female dancehall artiste Queen Haizel has sparked a major controversy by accusing radio host Nana Romeo of allegedly demanding sexual favors from her in exchange for promoting her music, and attempting to sabotage her career after she rejected his advances.

The allegations were made during an interview on TV Africa (in August 2020), which was part of a media tour for her new single, “Bus from Barbados” (also titled Trip 2 Barbados). This came shortly after she made headlines for false reports of her death and her unusual “return” from Barbados.

Details of the Allegation

Queen Haizel recounted that a friend introduced her to the presenter. She claimed they had previously engaged in sexual video calls, but the relationship ended when she refused to give in to further demands.

She later reached out to him again when her music began gaining attention. However, during a meeting at her home, she claims Nana Romeo allegedly made advances toward her, which she rejected.

Following her rejection, she claims Nana Romeo told her she would “never blow” (become successful), a comment that left her in tears and nearly convinced her to give up on music.

Queen Haizel’s testimony adds to the ongoing public discussion about the prevalence of “sex for promotion” in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
