Prince David Osei Apologizes after ‘insulting’ Mahama

Controversial actor Prince David Osei has issued a public apology to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following intense backlash over remarks he made about President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
In an Instagram post on December 10, 2024, Osei expressed his regret, emphasizing a focus on national unity after the election. He wrote:
“I deeply apologize if my words during the campaign offended anyone from the NDC. We were all focused on winning, but now let’s move forward and live in peace. God bless Ghana.”
The apology follows a controversial post Osei made shortly after Mahama’s victory, where, in a congratulatory attempt, he declared his own future ambition to become president. This comment provoked a strong negative reaction from some social media users, leading Osei to respond angrily.
He ignited widespread anger, particularly among NDC supporters, when he called one commenter a “fool” and controversially questioned his right to aspire to the presidency by pointing out that even a “drunkard” had been elected – a remark widely interpreted as an insult directed at the President-elect.
