Black Stars Thrash Madagascar, End Winless Drought in AFCON Qualifier

The Black Stars of Ghana began their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Madagascar on Wednesday night, June 1, 2022, at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The win, achieved under the management of Otto Addo, sparked widespread praise for the team on social media and successfully ended a run of six games without a win for the Black Stars.
Despite a goalless first half, Ghana “sprung into life” after the break, securing all three goals in the second 45 minutes:
- Goalscorers: Mohammed Kudus was the first to find the back of the net. He was soon followed by Felix Afena-Gyan and Osman Bukari, who both scored their debut goals for the senior national team.
The convincing result left the Black Stars sitting at the top of their group in the AFCON Qualifiers, setting a positive tone for the rest of the campaign.
