MTN Ghana Donates GhC5,500 and Beverages to Support Techiman’s 2019 “Apoo” Festival

MTN Ghana, the country’s leading telecommunications provider, has extended its corporate social responsibility by supporting the 2019 “Apoo” festival of the chiefs and people of Techiman in the Bono East Region.
The donation package included GhC5,000 in cash, assorted beverages, and GhC500 worth of airtime for the chiefs, totaling GhC5,500 in direct support.
Mr. Osei Akoto, MTN Ghana’s Northern Sector Commercial Manager, stated that the support is part of the company’s commitment to preserving and promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage and recognizing traditional authorities as key development partners.
Mr. Akoto also highlighted that MTN had designated 2019 as the “Customer Year” and noted that the company has completed over 142 development projects nationwide in health, education, and economic empowerment.
Nana Korsahkore Topia II, the Gyaasehene of the Techiman Traditional Area, received the donation on behalf of the Paramount Chief. He thanked MTN for its consistent support and appealed for the expansion of the MTN Foundation’s activities to benefit the Techiman community. He also called on other corporate organizations to contribute to the festival’s success.
