Mike Tyson Claims Floyd Mayweather Exhibition Fight Set for Africa in March

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has revealed that his highly anticipated exhibition match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. is slated to take place in Africa in March 2026.

The bout was initially announced in September 2025 without a date or location. Speaking at a live event last week, the 59-year-old Tyson called the fight “incredible” and predicted it will “break all the records” and be one of the biggest sporting events of the year.

Context of Both Fighters:

  • Tyson: Last fought professionally in 2005, but competed in an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. His most recent outing was a loss on points to Jake Paul in November 2024.
  • Mayweather: Retired professionally in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record but has engaged in numerous exhibition bouts since.

The planned Tyson vs. Mayweather bout faces potential complication from Manny Pacquiao, who outpointed Mayweather in 2015 in the highest-grossing boxing match ever.

Pacquiao, 46, stated in October that negotiations for a rematch with Mayweather are ongoing and that he is also negotiating an exhibition with Vasyl Lomachenko.

Pacquiao clarified that the Mayweather rematch is being negotiated as a real fight, while the Lomachenko bout would be an exhibition.
