Manchester City Signs Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma

Manchester City has completed the signing of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris St-Germain for a fee of £26 million, following the sale of Ederson to Fenerbahce.

The 26-year-old Italian international joins City on a five-year deal with the option of a further year. Donnarumma became surplus to requirements at PSG after the French club signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille.

Donnarumma has already made 412 club appearances and boasts 74 caps for Italy, including helping them secure victory in the Euro 2020 final. He is the seventh new player and the second goalkeeper to join City this summer, following James Trafford’s arrival from Burnley.

Donnarumma expressed his excitement, stating that signing for Manchester City is a “special and proud moment,” as he joins a squad “packed with world-class talent and a team led by one of the greatest managers in the history of football in Pep Guardiola.”

In related transfer news, Switzerland defender Manuel Akanji has also left the club before the transfer deadline, joining Inter Milan on a season-long loan.
