Kwesi Appiah Confirms Talks with Asante Kotoko for Coaching Role

Former Ghana coach and Asante Kotoko legend Kwesi Appiah confirmed that he had held discussions with the club regarding the vacant head coaching position. The “Porcupine Warriors” were without a substantive coach following the dismissal of Seydou Zerbo after a 2-0 defeat to Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium. Abdul Gazale was in charge as the interim boss at the time of the report.
Kwesi Appiah, who was without a club after leaving Kenpong Soccer Academy, made it clear that he had engaged with the club’s hierarchy, specifically through CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah.
“Asante Kotoko has a CEO (Nana Yaw Amponsah) and I can’t go to Manhyia and demand that I should be named the new head coach without the knowledge of the CEO,” Kwesi Appiah told Kumasi-based Pure FM.
“For the past months, I have held talks with Kotoko but I told them to hold on because I received two offers but let us see what happens.”
Appiah, a club legend, also expressed his willingness to assist the club in any capacity, stating, “I played Asante Kotoko for years and I have been in and out of the club. If there is any assistance I am willing to do that.”
