Gyakie Discusses Struggle to Balance Music Career with University Education

Afrobeats and Highlife artist Gyakie (Jacqueline Acheampong) has opened up about the difficulty of juggling her demanding music career with her pursuit of a tertiary education.1
In an interview with Amansan Krakye, Gyakie, who is studying International Business at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), admitted that it has become increasingly hard to focus solely on her academics as her music gains international momentum.2
She explained that as her popularity grows, the challenge of dividing her attention intensifies:
“Even when sitting in class, her mind often drifts to music, making it hard to concentrate fully on her studies.”
Despite the challenges, Gyakie—who released a successful remix of her hit song “Forever” with Nigerian artist Omah Lay in March 2021—emphasized her firm determination to complete her degree.3 She reassured her fans and the public that she remains committed to graduating and is actively working to ensure she finishes her program.
