President Akufo-Addo donates 8 vehicles, 5 motorbikes to Techiman to Support Development

On April 15, 2019, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo visited Techiman, the newly established capital of the Bono-East Region, to engage with the local chiefs and residents.
At the palace of Osiadeye Akumfi Ameyaw IV, the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Area, the President expressed gratitude for the region’s support in the 2016 elections. The Omanhene welcomed the President, assured him of continued support for the new region’s development, and announced the allocation of 200 acres of land for building regional offices and housing for staff. He also urged the President to swiftly post qualified personnel to accelerate development.
President Akufo-Addo confirmed that the Regional Coordinating Director and other key personnel had already been appointed and encouraged the community to support the new leadership. He pledged to focus on improving the road network across the region.
Crucially, the President announced that the Cashew Development Bill had been submitted to Parliament, promising that cashew would soon be treated as a major cash crop like cocoa, complete with associated benefits and the establishment of a Cashew Management Board.
The President concluded by emphasizing the importance of political unity for the region’s progress. Following the visit, he and his entourage conducted a sod-cutting ceremony at the proposed development site. Later, at a town hall meeting, the President formally presented eight new vehicles and five motorbikes to Omanhene Akumfi Ameyaw IV for use in the Bono-East Region’s development.
