GFA President Kurt Okraku Denies Interference in National Team Player Selection

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has firmly dismissed long-standing allegations that the GFA leadership interferes with player selections for the various national teams.
Speaking before Parliament’s Sports Select Committee on Monday, Okraku asserted that coaches maintain complete control over their squad decisions, whether for the Black Stars or the Black Queens.
He cited the return of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo as evidence of this autonomy: “Coach Otto Addo has had said on platforms that one of the key reasons he accepted to come back is the fact that he is allowed to do the work the way he wants to work.” Okraku emphasized that the players representing Ghana are “solely selected by the technical team.”
Otto Addo is scheduled to announce his squad shortly for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers doubleheader against Sudan.
