A major fire erupted at the Techiman Central Market in the Bono East Region around 12:30 pm on Monday, April 12, 2021, causing significant damage and destroying goods valued at thousands of cedis.1 The fire affected approximately 10 shops, including a Latex Foam depot.
Bono East Fire Commander, ACFO George Anim Frimpong, confirmed that fire personnel responded quickly, with around 80 firefighters working to bring the blaze under control within one hour and 25 minutes.
Although the fire is out, the exact cause remains unknown, and an official investigation is currently underway to determine how the incident began.
