Fancy Gadam Slams “Disappointing” GHAMRO Royalties After Receiving GHS 124 Payout

Popular Ghanaian musician Fancy Gadam has voiced his frustration over the current state of royalty distribution in the country, revealing that he received a payment of only GHS 123.82 for his years of musical contributions.
In a candid critique of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), the artist described the meager sum as a reflection of how poorly creatives are valued within the local industry.
He argued that such a payout fails to account for the substantial financial investments, studio costs, and immense effort required to build and maintain a successful music career, calling the notification a “loud question mark” on the treatment of artists.
The musician’s grievance has reignited a long-standing debate regarding transparency and fair compensation within Ghana’s creative sector. While GHAMRO maintains that their disbursements are calculated based on available collection data and airplay usage, Fancy Gadam and many of his peers insist that the system is fundamentally flawed and does not accurately reward the actual impact of their work.
Although he remains committed to his craft out of a genuine love for the arts, he emphasized that passion should not be a substitute for fair financial returns, urging for systemic changes that ensure musicians can sustain themselves through their creative output.
