Tottenham Signs Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55m

Tottenham Hotspur has successfully completed the signing of Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus from London rivals West Ham for a fee of £55 million.
Kudus, who was also targeted by Chelsea and Newcastle, has committed to Spurs on a six-year deal. The forward was identified as a priority signing by Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, as the club sought a versatile player capable of operating across the front line.
Since arriving from Ajax in 2023, Kudus scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in 65 Premier League games for the Hammers.
Key Details of the Transfer:
- Fee: £55 million.
- Contract: 6 years.
According to Sky Sports News, the fee negotiated allowed Spurs to avoid a widely reported “Tottenham tax” due to West Ham’s historical reluctance to do business with their North London rivals.
Despite widespread West Ham fan sentiment of “Anyone but them,” Kudus reportedly only wanted to sign for Spurs. This marks the first transfer between Tottenham and West Ham since Scott Parker’s move to Spurs in 2011.
West Ham is expected to reinvest a significant portion of the transfer money to allow manager Graham Potter to bring in new players.
