West Ham Striker Michail Antonio Undergoes Surgery After Serious Car Crash

West Ham United striker and Jamaica international Michail Antonio has undergone surgery for a lower limb fracture following a serious car accident in Epping on Saturday, the club has announced.

The 34-year-old, who is West Ham’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League, had to be rescued from his vehicle by the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service before being transported to a central London hospital.

The club initially confirmed on Saturday evening that Antonio was in a stable condition and was “conscious and communicating.”

Following the surgery, the club stated that Antonio will be “monitored in hospital over the coming days” and extended its gratitude to the emergency services and first responders. Essex Police are currently investigating the serious crash involving a Ferrari and have requested that any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage come forward.

Messages of support have poured in for the player from across the football world, including the Premier League, rival clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, and his former clubs.

Jamaica manager Steve McClaren also sent wishes on behalf of the national team. Antonio, who had played in all 14 of West Ham’s Premier League matches this season, now faces an uncertain recovery time as his club prepares to host Wolves on Monday.
