Evangelist Papa Shee has sparked fresh controversy surrounding the burial of highlife icon Daddy Lumba by revealing that the late musician’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, was never officially invited or informed of the December 13 funeral.
Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam, Papa Shee explained that Akosua Serwaa, who is currently based in Germany, only learned about the burial through hearsay. He noted that her absence, along with that of other immediate family members residing abroad, was due to their unmet request to postpone the rites so that all key relatives could be present to pay their respects.
The evangelist further disclosed that he chose to skip the ceremony out of respect for family elders who had withdrawn from the planning process due to ongoing internal disagreements.
According to Papa Shee, the decision to proceed with the burial despite the exclusion of Lumba’s immediate family has left the possibility of a future service or memorial open to the relatives’ discretion.
He emphasized Akosua Serwaa’s pivotal role in the legend’s career, stating she was the driving force behind his success, and noted that she has ultimately chosen to leave the entire unfortunate situation in God’s hands.
