Akon Arrested in Georgia Over Cybertruck Licensing Issues

Global music star Akon (Aliaune Badara Thiam) was arrested in Chamblee, Georgia, on November 7, 2025, after police identified his white 2024 Tesla Cybertruck through a “Flock” camera alert.

The 52-year-old singer was taken into custody while waiting for his vehicle to be serviced at an auto shop, as the vehicle was linked to an active bench warrant out of nearby Roswell. The warrant stemmed from a September incident where Akon was found stranded in the same disabled Cybertruck due to a dead battery.

During that initial encounter, officers discovered his license had been suspended since January 2023 for a failure to appear in court, and they subsequently seized an illegal vape found in the car’s center console.

Akon remained calm during the arrest, reportedly telling officers he was aware of the outstanding warrant. He was booked into the DeKalb County Jail and later transferred to the Smyrna City Jail, where he was released on bail roughly six hours later.

A representative for the artist later characterized the arrest as a “clerical issue,” claiming the license suspension should have been cleared after payment but wasn’t properly updated in the court system. Despite the legal hiccup, Akon proceeded with his planned international tour, performing in India just days later and maintaining a positive social media presence throughout the ordeal.
