Former Arsenal Midfielder Thomas Partey Charged with Rape and Sexual Assault

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to alleged incidents that took place between 2021 and 2022.

The charges involve three different women: two counts of rape relate to one woman, three counts of rape relate to a second woman, and the single count of sexual assault relates to a third woman.

The Metropolitan Police stated that the charges follow an investigation commenced in February 2022, and the 32-year-old is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 5.

Partey’s defence lawyer asserted that the player “denies all the charges against him,” has cooperated fully with authorities, and welcomes the opportunity to “finally clear his name.”

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy noted that the police’s primary focus is “providing support to the women who have come forward.”

Partey recently became a free agent after his contract with Arsenal expired and was reportedly a target for clubs such as Juventus, Barcelona, and Fenerbahce.
