Black Stars and Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu was forced off the pitch during Ghana’s Group F match against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon (a goalless draw on Saturday, June 29) due to an injury suspected to be a muscle tear.
Atsu was scheduled to undergo a thorough check and scan in Cairo to determine the severity of the injury and assess his potential availability for Ghana’s critical final Group F match against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, July 2, at the Suez Stadium.
Atsu’s injury marked the second serious setback for the Ghanaian squad during the tournament, following the earlier sidelining of player Thomas Agyapong.
