Liverpool Claims Sixth Champions League Title with Victory Over Tottenham

Liverpool defeated Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in Madrid to win the UEFA Champions League trophy for the sixth time, successfully erasing the disappointment of their final loss the previous season.

Mohamed Salah, who was injured in the previous year’s final, opened the scoring from the penalty spot after just two minutes, following a controversial handball call against Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko.

The victory secured Jürgen Klopp’s first trophy as Liverpool manager.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to start Harry Kane, who was recovering from an ankle injury, over semi-final hero Lucas Moura did not pay off, as Kane struggled to impact the game.

With the win, Liverpool cemented their place as one of the tournament’s most successful clubs, ranking behind only Real Madrid and AC Milan in total European Cup/Champions League titles.
