Osman Bukari Fires Red Star Belgrade to 34th Serbian League Title with Hat-Trick

Ghanaian winger Osman Bukari cemented Red Star Belgrade’s place in history by scoring a spectacular hat-trick in the decisive victory against Bačka Topola (TSC), securing the club’s 34th Serbian League title (SuperLiga) and successfully defending their championship.

The match, which took place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Rajko Mitić Stadium, ended in a dominant 4-1 win for the Red and Whites.

The victory was a hard-fought comeback, showcasing Bukari’s pace and clinical finishing. Bačka Topola took a surprise early lead in the 20th minute via a penalty kick converted by Ifet Đakovac. Bukari leveled the score just before halftime, blasting home a right-footed shot in the 45th minute.

He handed Red Star the lead in the 61st minute with his second goal. Guélor Kanga extended the lead to 3-1 in the 69th minute. Bukari sealed the victory and his historic hat-trick in the 75th minute of the game.

The hat-trick against Bačka Topola was notably Bukari’s second treble of the season since joining Red Star Belgrade from Accra Lions in the summer transfer window. His outstanding performance in the 2022/23 season helped the club not only win the league but also secure the Serbian Cup, completing a domestic double.

By the end of the 2022/23 Serbian SuperLiga season, Osman Bukari had registered 12 goals and 5 assists in 30 league appearances for the title-winning side. His form led to him being named the Serbian SuperLiga Player of the Month for April 2023.
