Ebony’s Father Accuses Manager Bullet of Mistreatment and Exploitation

Nana Opoku Kwarteng, the father of the late Dancehall star Ebony Reigns (Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng), publicly alleged that his daughter was subjected to mistreatment, exploitation, and verbal abuse by her manager, Bullet (Ricky Nana Agyeman), the CEO of Rufftown Records.
Speaking to Akwasi Aboagye on Peace FM (following Ebony’s tragic death in February 2018), Mr. Kwarteng revealed that Ebony became emotionally exhausted in the latter part of her career due to managerial issues.
Mr. Kwarteng explained that Ebony frequently confided in him about the challenges, expressing deep unhappiness with her management. However, he felt powerless to intervene because of the binding agreement she had signed:
“She complained many times about the mistreatment. She simply wasn’t happy with her management under Bullet and spoke to me about it with a heavy heart. As her father, it pained me deeply and I wanted to help her leave the situation.”
“I prayed constantly for her to be freed from it, but the contract she had signed meant she had no choice but to continue. All I could do was remain calm and support her from behind,” he said.
The relationship between Mr. Kwarteng and Bullet rapidly deteriorated after Ebony’s death, centering on accusations of financial exploitation: Mr. Kwarteng’s Claimed publicly to have received only GHS 2,000 from a tribute concert that allegedly grossed GHS 39,999, accusing Bullet of dishonesty.
Ebony Reigns tragically passed away in a car crash on February 8, 2018, while traveling from the Brong Ahafo Region to Accra, where she was preparing to fly to Belgium for the Ghana Meets Naija event.
