NRSC Launches Nighttime Safety Enforcement on Techiman-Kintampo Highway for Easter

In preparation for the upcoming Easter holidays, the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), in collaboration with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), is launching a nighttime enforcement exercise along the Techiman-Kintampo highway to combat the high rate of road accidents.
According to Mr. Kwesi Agyenim Boateng, NRSC’s Brong-Ahafo Regional Head, the highway’s accidents are often caused by overloading, excessive speeding, and heavy-duty vehicles with poor lighting operating at night.
During a safety education campaign, Mr. Boateng announced that the NRSC and the Techiman Municipal MTTD would enforce compliance. He specifically warned that heavy-duty trucks must have retro-reflective tape affixed for nighttime visibility, and non-compliant drivers will face legal action. He also urged all drivers to fix faulty lights, adhere to speed limits, avoid driving under the influence, and obey all road safety regulations.
ASP Andrews Okonengye, the Techiman Municipal MTTD Commander, affirmed the police’s commitment to zero tolerance for reckless driving. He instructed drivers to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and legally equipped with first aid kits, spare tires, and fire extinguishers. ASP Okonengye also reminded drivers to renew expired licenses and strictly obey all road signs for public safety.
