Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu Tours Bono East to Observe Start of BECE

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has commenced a working tour of the Bono East Region to monitor the start of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). His tour began at Techiman Senior High School, an exam centre hosting 1,423 candidates (692 boys and 731 girls).
According to the Regional Director of Education, Nana Kugbeadzor Bakateyi II, the Bono East Region has a total of 20,572 candidates (10,156 boys and 10,416 girls) sitting for the exam. Nationwide, the Minister noted that 603,328 candidates are expected to participate.
Minister Iddrisu offered encouragement, urging candidates to approach the exam with honesty and confidence and to avoid any form of malpractice, emphasizing that “no form of cheating is worth risking your future.”
During his visit, the Minister acknowledged the poor condition of furniture in some classrooms and promised that the government would provide improved furniture and logistical support to enhance teaching and learning.
Bono East Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi thanked the Education Minister for his visit and assured that the region is fully prepared for the exams. He also promised prompt attention to concerns regarding poor lighting in some classrooms and issued a strong warning against any attempts at cheating.
