Three Killed, Including Both Drivers, in Head-on Truck Collision on Techiman-Kumasi Road

A tragic accident near the Kuntunso river on the Techiman-Kumasi road in the Bono East Region claimed three lives, including both truck drivers, around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Two other victims sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman.
The collision, involving two heavily loaded trucks, occurred when one truck (GW 2732Q) reportedly suffered a tire blowout, causing it to veer into an oncoming Kia Rhino truck heading toward Kumasi.
Emergency teams from the Police MTTD and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) collaborated to extricate the bodies from the wreckage. In accordance with Islamic custom, the body of the long truck driver was later buried in Techiman.
Local residents, including Kofi Poku and Yeboah Asante, expressed deep concern over the dangerous nature of this road stretch, citing its steep incline and potholes as major contributing factors to frequent accidents, and urgently appealing for government intervention and increased driver caution to prevent further fatalities.
