50 Cent Hints at Producing Series Based on Hushpuppi’s Life

American rapper, actor, and producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has announced plans to produce a television series based on the life and criminal exploits of convicted Nigerian internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, widely known as Hushpuppi.
50 Cent made the announcement on his Instagram page shortly after Hushpuppi was sentenced to 11 years and three months in a US federal prison in November 2022 for money laundering.
In his post, accompanied by throwback images of Hushpuppi’s lavish lifestyle, 50 Cent wrote:
“For my scammers, I gotta do this one. Hushpuppi series coming soon… GLG, Green Light Gang I don’t miss. #gunitfilmandtv”
Nigerian Celebrity Response
The announcement generated significant attention, with several Nigerian celebrities, particularly those in Nollywood, appealing directly to 50 Cent to cast Nigerian actors in the project.
- Nollywood actress Uche Jombo politely pleaded, “Please give a Nigerian actor the opportunity to play this character.”
- Actor Deyemi Okanlawon publicly offered to audition for the role.
- Other actors emphasized the need for an authentic Nigerian accent and perspective in the portrayal of Hushpuppi’s story.
