High Court Orders Re-collation of 147 Uncollated Polling Station Results in Techiman South

The High Court, presided over by Justice Forson Baah Agyapong, has intervened in the disputed Techiman South Constituency election results by ordering the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile the results from 147 uncollated polling stations.
The ruling came from a mandamus application filed by the NPP candidate, Martin Adjei Mensah-Korsah, which the judge deemed satisfied all legal criteria. The court instructed the returning officer to add the outstanding figures to the already tallied results from 135 polling stations and formally declare the final result according to law.
The NDC candidate, Dr. Christopher Beyere Baasongti, represented by lawyer Godwin Kudzo Edudzi Tamaklo, had argued that an election petition was the proper legal course, but the judge disagreed, citing the necessity of a complete and lawful process.
Justice Agyapong further ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to provide armed security for the collation, citing reports of threats against the returning officer. The process is mandated to be completed by January 6, 2025.
