Wayne Rooney Slams Mohamed Salah, Urges Arne Slot to Assert Authority

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has criticized Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, stating that his recent comments about feeling “thrown under the bus” by the club are destroying his legacy.

Rooney’s remarks follow Salah’s public declaration that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot had broken down. Speaking on his latest podcast, Rooney insisted that Slot must immediately assert his authority.

He suggested Slot should communicate to Salah that his comments are “not acceptable” and that he will “not be travelling with the team” for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Inter Milan or next Saturday’s home game against Brighton.

Rooney advised Salah to “Take yourself off to Afcon and let everything calm down,” emphatically concluding, “If I was him there would be no way he would be in the team.”

Rooney stressed that the conflict between Salah and Slot needs to be “sorted out quickly either way,” implying Salah must either resolve his differences or exit Liverpool.
