Techiman Department of Agriculture Warehouse Raided; Drought-Relief Rice and Fertilizer Stolen

The warehouse of the Techiman Metropolitan Department of Agriculture was reportedly raided by thieves shortly after the December 7 general elections, resulting in the theft of a large quantity of supplies meant for drought-affected farmers.

The stolen items included nearly 9,860 bags of 2.5kg rice, along with significant amounts of fertilizer: 4,447 bags of MP4 (5kg) and 3,150 bags of Urea (5kg).

Madam Grace Obeng Amenya, the Stock Officer, disclosed that the supplies were received a week before the elections but were stolen before distribution could commence. She reported that the intruders broke the original padlocks and replaced them with new ones to conceal the break-in.

The incident has since been reported to the police. A regional investigative team later confirmed the theft upon forcibly entering the facility. Mr. Stephen Aidoo, the Metropolitan Director of Agriculture, confirmed that investigations are ongoing, but no arrests have been made so far.
