Techiman Mount Carmel Girls’ SHS Pleads for Completion of Stalled Dormitory and Dining Hall Projects

Mr. Frank Owusu, Patron of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and a tutor at Techiman Mount Carmel Girls’ Senior High School in the Bono East Region, has publicly appealed for the government to complete the school’s long-delayed infrastructure projects.

Speaking during the school’s first-ever SRC Week celebration, Mr. Owusu highlighted that the construction of a girls’ dormitory and a multi-purpose dining hall, both of which are about 75% complete since starting in 2015, have stalled due to insufficient funding.

He stressed that completing these crucial facilities is vital to resolving the severe overcrowding issue, which poses a health risk and makes it difficult to accommodate the school’s growing population. Currently, the dormitory houses over 732 girls, and space is critically limited for incoming first-year boarders.

The school, founded in 2006 and government-assisted since 2021, has received no significant government investment since the two unfinished projects began.
