Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has confirmed he has submitted a formal transfer request at Atalanta, accusing the club of reneging on a prior agreement to allow him to leave this summer.
The 27-year-old, who is reportedly a target for Serie A rivals Inter Milan, stated on social media that he had an understanding with the club’s board that he could depart if a “fair” offer was received.
Lookman’s Statement:
- He claims Atalanta have gone back on their promise after “receiving an offer in alignment to what I believe had been discussed.”
- Lookman asserted, “I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right and I feel that enough is enough.”
- He accused Atalanta of “blocking the opportunity” for him to leave “for reasons I do not understand.”
Atalanta Tenure:
Lookman joined the Italian side from RB Leipzig in 2022. He is best known for scoring his first career hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final victory against Bayer Leverkusen in Dublin. In total, the Nigeria international has scored 52 goals in 117 appearances for the club.
