Shatta Wale Denies Funding Road Project Near SM Secretariat

Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has directly addressed the rumors that he paid a significant sum to road contractors to extend a road project leading to his office (SM Secretariat) in Adjiringanor, Accra.
The controversy initially flared up (around May 2021) after videos surfaced online showing Shatta Wale and his team visiting the construction site. This led to widespread speculation that the rapper was angry because the construction, which he allegedly funded, had stalled while he was abroad.
Reports at the time also claimed that Shatta Wale and his team assaulted the project manager when they were referred to the Urban Roads Department instead of getting the extension they wanted. Shatta Wale later publicly apologized for the fracas.
During an interview with Andy Dosty, Shatta Wale clarified the situation and refuted the financial claims. When directly asked by Andy Dosty if he had funded the project, the dancehall star firmly responded: “No.”
Shatta Wale confirmed that he “did not pay anybody to construct any road anywhere” in the area of the SM secretariat, clearing the air about the source of the road funds.
